What is a Registered Dietitian?

Registered Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be statutorily regulated, and governed by an ethical code, to ensure they always work to the highest professional standard.   The title ‘dietitian’ is a protected one which can only be legally used by appropriately trained professionals who have met the training and professional requirements of and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Dietitians use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease, which they translate into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate food and lifestyle choices to ensure optimum health and well-being.
